Fall and Death

Tan Sri P. Ramlee's career excelled most of the years in his life, but in years at the end of his life, he was a man that had fallen very hard from the public eye and also as a once rich and famous person. Tan Sri P. Ramlee lost his shine, his money and also his fame. One of his partner and colleague H.M. Shah tried to form a company called PERFIMA to enable him to relaunch his career and produce his dream of acting and directing in colour films. But the idea at the end ended up in the hands of inexperienced and connected cronies leaving the talented malay (P. Ramlee) unrecognized, ignored and shut out from the movie entertainment business. Although he was shut out P. Ramlee tried very hard to set up his company called "P. Ramlee Productions", but was again shut out by Malaysia's media and entertainment industries including RTM and etc.

Tan Sri P. Ramlee tragically is stressed out, overweight, completely down and out with passion and had his spirit broken. The once rich and talented man had to do almost any job he could including running mahjong tables and singing at weddings and other functions to put food on the table for his family. He had to live on only rice and eggs, it was truly a sad and heart aching moment to see P. Ramlee and his family at that state. On 29 May the year 1973 Tan Sri P. Ramlee died at the age of 44 from a heart attack and was buried at Jalan Ampang a Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur. On the day he died, there was no rice in his house and his wife Saloma didn't have any money for his funeral he died hopelessly as a man who is broke and broken.
